FreeBSD 8.2-RELEASEが出荷され、「Xen PV support in FreeBSD/i386 improved」とアナウンスされていたので先日と同じように完全仮想化の環境にインストールしてXEN対応カーネルを作る手順で作業開始。
1. 完全仮想化にインストール
問題なく完了。動作する。
8.1Rと違い「hw.clflush_disable="1"」を記述しなくても動く。
2. 準仮想化で起動。
前回と同じような感じで動かず。
残念。

FreeBSDをxenの準仮想化でインストールした(けど、失敗した)
先日、FreeBSD/amd64を完全仮想化で動かしたので,続いてdomUな準仮想化(PV)で動かそうとしていたが.....
もしかしてFreeBSD/amd64はPVなdomU対応していない?????
FreeBSD/i386だとdomU用のカーネルコンフィグファイルがあるがFreeBSD/amd64だと見当たらない。
さらに結論としては、FreeBSD/i386 8.1はNetBSD/amd64 5.1のdomOでは動かない...のかな。
----とりあえずやったこと。
まずはFreeBSD/amd64は見捨てて、HVMなdomUへFreeBSD/i386-8.1をインストールする。
やり方は、一昨日のやり方と変わらない。
次にHOWTO: Create a FreeBSD 8 i386 Xen PV domUを参考に作業開始。
# cd /usr
# dd if=/dev/zero of=freebsd.img bs=1m count=4096
(「truncate -s 4G freebsd.img」でも良いけどそれはダメだという投稿あり。どっちも試したけどあかんかった。

その後、xmの設定ファイルを色々書いてみたが、
Error: Device 768 (vbd) could not be connected. Hotplug scripts not working.
と言われて進まず。
FreeBSD/NetBSDのxenのMLでも動かないという話はあるけど....

FreeBSDをxenの完全仮想化(hvm)でインストールした。
FreeBSDをdomUでインストールしたかったのだが、domUなカーネルが見つから無いので完全仮想化で一度インストールし、その世界の中でdomUな準仮想化用のカーネルを作る方針をとった。
結論
・HVMではテキスト表示での接続ができない模様
・FreeBSDのインストールの際にパラメータをいじらないと「Fatal trap 12」で始まるエラーがどんどこでる。
・上記2点をクリアしたらインストールでき、起動できた。
・domU用のカーネル作成はまだ試していない。
環境は
dom0:
NetBSD/5.1(amd64) Athlon II X2 265(3.3GHz)
インストールOS:
FreeBSD 8.1(amd64)
(FreeBSD-8.1-RELEASE-amd64-disc1.isoを利用)

インストールが終わったあとは

あとvncでの画面も提供されたままなので気になる人は修正すること。

FreeBSD 2009/08末〜の変更についての覚え書きやRunning FreeBSD 8.1 as a Xen HVM DomU on Flexiantを参考にさせてもらいました。

完全仮想化できずorz
ノートパソコンでXenの完全仮想化を使うかと設定してエイヤッと動かしたら....
Error: HVM guest support is unavailable: is VT/AMD-V supported by your CPU and enabled in your BIOS?
なんじゃと調べると仮想化に対応したCPUであってもBIOSが対応していないとダメらしい。
DynabookSS RX1のBIOS設定はどこでするんだろうと確認したが見付からず電話してしまった。回答は非対応です。カタログに書いています。
....確かに ここのCPU欄に書いてあるや。

xenを導入
ノートPCにXenを導入した。2週間ぐらいかかって、やっとこさ許容できる状態にまで持ってこれた。もう少し簡単に通常使っているカーネルをDom0対応に出来ないかな。
導入対象機
Dynabook RX1..メモリ2GB
Dom0:NetBSD/4.0
有線NIC:wm(使ってない)
無線LAN:CardBusのath
はまった点
1.NetBSD/4.0で提供されているXEN3_DOM0のカーネルだとCardBUSを認識しなかった。
2.CardBusを認識するカーネルを作るのに何度もトライする羽目になった。
3.xenbackenddを立ち上げ忘れて、はまった。
4.bridge0を作り忘れて、はまった。
まだ出来ていない点
1.作成したDom0用のカーネルはathを認識するがaudioが使えない(demesgのazalia0参照)。
2.同カーネルでCPUの動的な周波数変更できないので、estdが使えない(Dom0だとそういうものなのかな)。
3.同カーネルをSMP対応させたいが「options MULTIPROCESSOR」を入れただけではカーネルのコンパイルでこける。
4.DomUからDom0へ通信は出来るがathを越えて通信できない(一番直したい)。
DomUは、NetBSD-currentは成功。SolarisはNまだうまくいかず。
なお今のカーネルはGENERIC_LAPTOPにXEN3_DOMUの内容を加えて使わないデバドラを削除していったもの。

はまった点
1.NetBSD/4.0で提供されているXEN3_DOM0のカーネルだとCardBUSを認識しなかった。
2.CardBusを認識するカーネルを作るのに何度もトライする羽目になった。
3.xenbackenddを立ち上げ忘れて、はまった。
4.bridge0を作り忘れて、はまった。
まだ出来ていない点
1.作成したDom0用のカーネルはathを認識するがaudioが使えない(demesgのazalia0参照)。
2.同カーネルでCPUの動的な周波数変更できないので、estdが使えない(Dom0だとそういうものなのかな)。
3.同カーネルをSMP対応させたいが「options MULTIPROCESSOR」を入れただけではカーネルのコンパイルでこける。
4.DomUからDom0へ通信は出来るがathを越えて通信できない(一番直したい)。
DomUは、NetBSD-currentは成功。SolarisはNまだうまくいかず。
なお今のカーネルはGENERIC_LAPTOPにXEN3_DOMUの内容を加えて使わないデバドラを削除していったもの。

NetBSD/amd64でXen3をやりたいのだが
自宅に作った6.5GBのNetBSD/amd64 4.0は快調に動いているが、メモリも使わないと面白くないので仮想化(xen)で遊ぶかと考えた。
動けばSolaris/Linux/FreeBSDを同居させ調べごとに便利なようにしたいな。
でっNetBSD/xenのhowtoをみると、「First do a NetBSD/i386 or NetBSD/amd64 installation of the 4.0 release (or newer: for Xen3 amd64 you'll need NetBSD-current from December 2007 or newer) as you usually do on x86 hardware.」と書いてある。これってxen3をamd64で使いたきゃ-currentにしろという事だよな....
自宅の要のサーバなので、あんまりいじりたくないなぁ。カーネルだけdailyで作られている-currentからnetbsd-XEN3_DOM0.gzを引っ張れば何とかなるかな。
